Replacing Fire Bricks
Firebricks are consumable goods which do require replacing after a period of time, the lifespan of firebricks can vary due to numerous different factors such as:
- Thermal stress: Rapid changes in temperature can cause bricks to expand/ contract too quickly, causing cracks.
- Moisture: Using fuel with a high moisture content can cause bricks to wear quicker
- Over firing: when the temperature inside the appliance rises to a level that the bricks cannot handle, causing them to crack.
- Age: Over time, bricks will become worn and will require replacing.
- Impact damage: Dropping heavy fuel onto the bricks or hitting the bricks with a tool can cause them to crack.
